Masters 2014

Congrats to Bubba Watson for winning his second Masters!
I tried to keep watch on the standings this weekend but being a busy bee kept that a challenge. I even downloaded the Masters app on my phone.
Yesterday afternoon I was able to lounge around for a bit and watch the final round and see Bubba presented with his green jacket.

Watching the Masters reminds me of growing up and seeing my Dad, Paw Paw Smokey, and Uncle David on the golf course. When my parents were together, we were members of a nine hole country club, Deer Trail, in Commerce. My mom, my little brother and I, would swim at the pool while my Dad, his Dad and brother would play. I even remember my Dad telling me about his first Eagle he got... he couldn't believe it! I think he got pretty good too. After my Paw Paw passed away tho, I think it was a long time before he ever picked up his clubs again, if he ever did.
I rarely ever have to go in the Commerce direction.. but last year I when was there, I pulled into that course and sat in the parking lot facing the greens and fairways.. thinking of all the memories.

There is just something about being on a golf course. It can be one of the most relaxing, peaceful times. I don't own my own clubs but I have had my times of fun on the golf course and the driving range.

I even had a job once with a golf company. Its been so long ago I don't even remember what the name of it was tho. When golfers would arrive, they had the opportunity to buy a ticket, if you got a hole-in-one you won a huge prize.. I never had anyone do so but for playing you got a sleeve of balls. Hey I was young and it paid the bills while I was building my clientele. I till have a client coming to me from those days! His name is Hardy and he comes into the salon singing every time, he may have a magic trick to show me, and ALWAYS has a joke to tell. AND I enjoyed just being out there on a cool spring or fall morning, soaking up the sun and peacefulness.

Here I am in 2006, doing my best Tiger Woods fist pump celebrating my first birdie!

I have moved Coach's clubs a good bit at times around this house (limited storage).. we should make it a fun date before you git the road hard traveling! It would be some fun memories to make.

Sunday Social

Linking up today for the

What was your best birthday?

I actually just had a pretty awesome birthday but ALL birthdays are the best because you have seen another year!

What was your best vacation?

I can't choose just one so here are three of my faves::

Cape San Blas with Mom in 2009
Honeymoon in 2012
1 Year Anniversary in 2013

What is the best date you have ever been on?

At the top of my list is the date night Coach and I got engaged.. but I enjoy and cherish ALL of my dates with that hunk.

What is the best movie (quality) you have ever seen?

I have seen so many movies I don't even know where to begin.. maybe Lone Survivor? The surviving soldier was so hands on in making sure the movie depicted just as that day was for them.

What is the best TV show ending of all time?

I don't really watch too much TV during the week.. I do try and catch Grey's and Scandal which lately it has been just Scandal. I'll be sad when Grey's does say goodbye.

Do the Chop:: Braves Opening Day

Since 2011, I have been going with Coach and the Team Elite fam to the Atlanta Braves Opening Day. (That was also the day I met a lot of the TE coaches, wives, and girlfriends for the first time.)
How time flies!

We almost didn't make it this year because for some reason there weren't any tickets bought for the gals.. still not sure why this was.. but Coach politely declined if his wife couldn't be apart of this tradition. What a smart man and such a sweet husband.
Turns out I was able to get a ticket in the end from a coach who wasn't able to attend and boy was I one happy wife!!
I worked a couple of hours on Tuesday morning, got back home to get ready, Mitch (a coach) met us at the house, and we were on our way! We got to the A-T-L around 3:30 and met up with the group, hung out for a bit, and finally headed inside. This chick was starving!!

Our photographer said to strike a pose LOL! What can I say, we like having fun!

Forty years ago on Tuesday, Hank Aaron passed Babe Ruth on the all-time home run list and was recognized before the game...

... celebrating his 715th home run.

We sat down and a few minutes later I saw this lady.. 714 was hit on my birth date! How cool!

Go Dawgs!!!

"Forty years ago, if I had known (the anniversary celebration) would be like this, I would have hit (No. 715) earlier,"
“I gave the game everything I had.”
"You think about it and say, 'Well, there is no way 40 years have passed that quickly.' But it's here."
~Hank Aaron

The night was absolutely gorgeous despite the wind. I got pretty cold at one point and thank goodness Coach gave me his jacket.

Coach recognized someone he knew.. his outfielder coach from the Padres who is now the Braves Third Base Coach, Doug Dascenzo. (45 walking in the middle of the picture) I love learning about his career!

Unfortunately, we lost 4-0 to the Mets AND the flag caught on fire due to some of the fireworks. My uncle, who is a firefighter for ATL, came in yesterday to the salon and told me about it. I didn't even notice the fire but did notice all the holes in it at one point. Guess I was too busy taking pics I didn't even notice the flames. Oops!!

'Til next year!
