MakeUp / Hair / Thunderstorms & Finally Wedding Bells

This past Saturday was a bright and early wake up call! Kimberlee was gettin' hitched!
(I've actually been pretty busy with proms and weddings every Saturday since the second weekend in April.. whew!)

BTW, I'm in LOVE with this shirt. My friend Megan added me to this secret Boutique group on Facebook where you get boutique clothes at a super discounted price. Which may or may not be good for my bank account. But we won't discuss that right now. And I finally got it in last Friday!
SO. SO. COMFY!

I'm missing SEVERAL girls hair and makeup but here are just a few and of course, the bride!

Right before the ceremony.. Beautiful Kimber! It thunderstormed all day off and on (I mean it. came. down. This girl got lots of good luck on her Big Day!) They still managed to get some great pics and the skies calmed down just in time for the ceremony to be outside.

Kimberlee is actually family on my Mom's side so my Aunt and Gigi and my Mom(not pictured) attended the wedding.

These peonies were beautiful!

I love the backdrop on this tree! Absolutely stunning!
Congrats you two!

And this gorgeous youngin' keeps me young.

MAKE-UP MONDAY

Happy Monday all!

The last weekend in May, I did just makeup only for a wedding party. I do not have one single picture of any faces I did because it went SO fast and the girls were running behind to get ready for pictures.

BUT,

One new product that I added to my kit and have fallen in love with is the MAC Strobe Cream.

I applied this to all the girls faces before the makeup application, it added moisture without being oily and brightened them up! If you think about it, what happens normally the night before weddings? There is drinking, staying up late, etc and that dehydrates you.. I loved that it added hydration without their makeup looking oily. Two more bonuses, it's lightweight and absorbs quickly!

Yesterday, I had my maternity pictures done in 93*+ heat and besides me blotting off the sweat and hitting my forehead with my powder brush, my makeup held up pretty dang good!

MAKE-UP MONDAY

** I do realize this is way late for Monday but wanted to go ahead and share anyway!

So I mentioned earlier, I restocked some items in my kit and here are a few::

Lipliner: Stripdown
Eye Shadow: Charcoal Brown
Powder Blush: Blushbaby
Prep + Prime Skin

not pictured:
Cremesheen Glass: Boy Bait & Nectarsweet
Pro Longwear Paint Pot: Painterly

Blushbaby looks a little lighter in the photo but not by much, and I do believe it's my new fave color!
I was kind of dissapointed with the eye shadow because it was pretty much almost the EXACT same color as another shadow I already had.. bummer.

AND, I've already misplaced Nectarsweet ... I went to get it out of my kit earlier and it was MIA. I really hope it shows up! I had it Friday doing a run thru for a Bride this Saturday, packed up everything, brought it home, haven't touched it since and it's just gone.

The Prep + Prime is an awesome product! I put this on my clients first things before I start anything else. It calms and soothes the skin and evens out any redness and also reduces excess oil from the skin.

Paint Pots are one of my absolute faves!! I always wear them as a base and most times pair them with my eyeshadow.. other times when I'm running out the door, I will just wear it alone. They go on super smooth, dry quickly, and the product does not crease on your lid. Painterly is what I use most as a base.. its a nude beige with no shimmer and pairs awesome with my matte shadows. I accidentally picked up Bare Study the last time I was at MAC and it's way too shimmery for me personally to use everyday.

After trying to get everything organized in my kit, I'm thinking I'm going to need another carrier. Things are just getting way too cramped in just this one.. I love the one I have tho so I would definitely want to get the exact same one!

So what do y'all think about the colors?

MAKE-UP MONDAY

Welcome to Make-up Monday!

This post should have already been out today, however, my day got flipped and it's just now being live.. which I'm glad because we had some gnarly weather here today and I would have been out and about in all the thunderstorms/hail/tornado warning weather. Yikes!

So as I mentioned a couple posts ago, I have a new favorite lipliner/lipstick combo that I put together this week and I love it so much I wanted to share!

My favorite makeup that makes up 99.9% of my kit is MAC. I seriously love ALL their products!
Are you aware of their Back-to-MAC program? Turn in six of your empty containers and you get a FREE lipstick. This is how I have scored most of mine. Whoop whoop!

Without further adieu...

Lipliner: Whirl
Lipstick: Peach Blossom

I LOVE it!

My goal for Makeup Monday is to share with y'all any and everything beauty related.. my favorites, tips and tricks, new fave additions that will be added to my kit, and more!

Can't wait to share more with you loves!

This week...

Let's start with last Friday...

Kristen ROCKED this updo mohawk for her prom!
I had seen this awhile back and begged some of my girls to let me do this and Kristen was the only one stepped up. She absolutely loved it and I did too! So much fun!

Saturday, the skies opened up and beamed a huge bright yellow ball of sunshine it has done nothing but rain here for daaayyysss for this sweet lady's wedding. I had the honor of doing her and her bridesmaids hair and makeup. They were lots of fun and what a fun, easy day!
If you already follow me on Instagram, you've already seen these, but in the event you don't, here's a little hair and makeup!

Nikki came back in this week for the after-wedding-chop and was so sweet to share these photos with me! Her FIL has owned his own plane/hanger/runway on their land for as long as I have know their family, and this is where their ceremony/reception was held. How awesome!

Beautiful bride!

Mr. Plank baptized me and has just recently retired from preaching.

In action!
After work, I treated myself to a pedicuuurr. I cannot begin to explain how much better my piggies felt after a long work week.
I don't think I realized just how much I booked myself last week on top of the wedding, and by Sunday, I felt like I was coming down with the flu I felt so bad. I had ZERO energy, cold chills, and I could NOT hold my eyes open to save my life. Everything I wanted to get done obviously didn't even get started.

Monday morning, Amber came over, we got on her laptop and searched all the fabric sites she has access to, to find fabric for Baby Hopper's bedding. AT LAST SOMETHING HAS BEEN DONE!! Amber was so patient with me searching and searching and looking and looking and I finally found something that I loved! I was so EXCITED and cannot express how much better I felt to have something crossed off a long list.
Afterwards, Coach and I went to my Dr's appt. All was good and her heartbeat was 163.. I just wish I could've been able to listen longer. We were seriously in and out of there in 15 minutes. The nurse also informed me that after this next 4 week appt, it will be time for me to start coming every two weeks.. I said, "ALREADY???!!" I wish I could've seen my face. I was NOT expecting that.. and then I lost it and I think I scared her and Shane both. I couldn't even speak because I seriously thought I would lose it even more. Shane was so sweet to console me. Time has just flown by so fast and I can't believe we are about to already be at that point. I realize that women have babies everyday, but I am super scared about delivery, and that just made it even more real to hear her say that. Moving on...
We continued our day by Coach taking me to the beauty supply store, where he bought me a brand new, squishy mat, sooo thankful for that!! He took me to Planet Smoothie, yummy, we came back home and napped. I was worn out.
AND, who gets granddaughter of the year award??? I do, I do! NOT!! I woke up from my nap, made my way to the grocery store and completely FORGOT about my Grandmother's Monday night dinner. I felt like pond scum. Didn't even cross my mind.

Tuesday, longest day at work and came home and started Baby H's registry.  This has continued ALL week and I am still not done.

Wednesday, I slept in and didn't start until the afternoon, THAT was AMAZING, and as you can see I'm in love with this maternity dress from Target. I want one in every color!

Thursday and today, I have worked all day, although yesterday I did get off a little early because my last client called in sick.. thank you for not exposing me to germs.

As I said, every night, I've been working on the registries which has taken up a TON of my time! Work has been super busy because Whitney is out on maternity leave, so we are all helping her out with her clients on top of ours, and it's prom and wedding season so I've been spending my Saturday's at the salon too!

Thank y'all sweet readers for sticking around even when I'm not here.
I have a couple of fun posts coming up, one in which will be sharing my new favorite lipstick/lipliner combo I put together this week.. it's my new fave!!

Hope y'all have had a wonderful week and have an awesome weekend planned ahead..
see y'all tomorrow!

My New Face Cleanser

My Mom is a serious book fanatic and is always on the look out for a great book. With out a doubt she could open up her own book store. A while back she gave me this book--

.. and I must say it has some pretty awesome things in it. I'm just sorry I haven't picked it up sooner and seriously read it before now.
Just another example of God showing me to get my procrastination under control!
This book covers everything from a 28 day cleanse, weight, hair, cosmetics, perfumes and more.

A couple years ago, I was given a sample of Obagi facial cleanser and fell in love with it!

It is not cheap tho and I have really been trying to pinch the pennies lately. Seriously sick and tired of spending extra money over here!!
After running out of my face wash and moisturizer, and NOT wanting to spend over $50 on all of it, I finally picked up this book for some serious reading.

Welcome to Chapter 4- Beauty Secrets: Skin.

Ginger discusses a three step regimen-
washing and exfoliating, nourishing and plumping, moisturizing and protecting
that can be done morning, night, or both.

She states that women in biblical times loved to wash their faces in milk and often made this apart of their morning routine. Which brings us to the first step:

Step 1: Wash and Exfoliate
Rich Milk Wash

You will need:
1 cup powdered goat's milk (try Meyenberg milk)
1 cup quick-cooking oats
[fresh flaxseed in the winter months]

I have never heard of Meyenberg and I honestly thought I was going to have to make a trip to Earth Fare or some kind of organic foods store to find this. BUT, I was at Ingle's in town and just accidentally stumbled upon it. I was SO excited!! This container was $10.68 plus tax. I already had these Red Mill oats at home and organic flaxseed that I went ahead and added in the blender. Ginger says that in the winter months your skin becomes dry from the indoor heating, and the omegas in the flaxseed add extra emollients and richness to the wash.

Directions:

Process the powdered milk and oats in a blender or food processor until the mixture is very fine. Store in an airtight container, in a cool place, for up to four weeks.

Step 2: Nourish and Plump
Honey Tonic
Apply 1-2 drops honey (I used local) to wet fingertips and massage onto wet face. Do not rinse. Pat dry.

Step 3: Moisturize and Protect
Olive Oil Moisturizer
Place 2-3 drops of extra-virgin, organic olive oil onto your palm. Rub palms together and pat your face gently.

I started this on Sunday, October 13th, cleansing morning and night. I was only going to document this until Sunday, October 20th, but we had a death in the family, so my documentation ends the 23rd.

BEFORE

AFTER FIRST WASH

AFTER HONEY TONIC

AFTER OLIVE OIL MOISTURIZER

The following pictures are from last night. I had already applied the Honey Tonic and the Olive Oil Moisturizer.

Before I compared these pictures, I did NOT feel like I could tell that much difference in my complexion.. but my jaw dropped when I enlarged these photos and I could DEFINITELY see a difference! I took these 'after' photos in the exact same lighting and in the exact same place in our bathroom just like the 'before' shots.

I have a Clarasonic that I normally use and I did not use it during this time span. I normally fight bumps on my chin and it is almost as smooth as a babies bottom!! The only way I have been able to get rid of those bumps is with my Clarasonic. Towards the end of the week I have felt my makeup has gone on smoother and I haven't had to wear as much. At my temples near my hairline, I had started getting red, splotchy areas, and I can see a major difference there! The inflammation has gone down and it hasn't felt itchy.

Concerns on the honey and olive oil??
I have NOT 100% felt like a honey comb or Italian restaurant.
The honey is not sticky if your skin is damp and you only have to use a couple of small drops of oil. A little goes a long way!

I was even talking about this in the salon a couple days ago and one of Whitney's clients said the best skin she has ever seen was a woman in her 80's.. She asked what her secret was and it was olive oil! Said she had used it since she was a little girl!

Needless to say, I'm hooked on this regimen and want to try it on the rest of my body!
Let me know if you end up trying it and what your results are!

Milk is the first food for new life: Newborn are sustained by it, and the "land of milk and honey" was a reference to the cherished Promised Land, which represented the blessing of God's abundance and new life for God's people. Peter even used milk to symbolize deep, nourishing truth, telling us we are to "desire the pure milk of the word". 1 Peter 2:2.

Honey is the promise of abundance in the Promised Land. Exodus 3:17

The Word of the Lord is sweeter than honey. Psalms 119:103

The Lord called you a thriving olive tree with fruit beautiful in form. Jeremiah 11:16
