Sunday at the Diamond

Coach's season is just around the corner so practice for the 16's officially started this past weekend. Sunday it was such a gorgeous day, so me and Fin made our way to the field!

I thought your Daddy had seen us when we first walked up, but he never did! We had met one of the Dad's who offered us a chair (so nice), Coach came off the field, saw the Dad first, kept walking, and then did a double take when we finally caught his eye. Ha! He had been in the zone since leaving the house early that day and I'd say he was still in it that afternoon...

He was SO happy to see Fin and in his words, she "stole the show".

She has been loving glasses and hats lately.. I have been having contact issues and can't wait for my left one to get here so I can lose these glasses. They are not kid friendly (especially a curious one) and they are killing the backs of my ears...

And a certain 9 month old has been getting pretty upset when we take the phone away from her (she's not actually supposed to be having one at all but with all her screaming and drawing attention, a nice gentleman lent us his for distraction to get a quick picture with my phone)

It looks like she already knows what to do with it!

After we had a snack at the car, we made our way back to the field for a few minutes before we made our way to the facility after it cleared out from players hitting in the cages..

We found some balls and Finley had tons of fun emptying that crate out..

And she made a new friend.. Landon is one of Shane's coaches that is going to be helping him a lot this season.

The way Finley was bent over getting these balls, I just knew we were going to have a head first in the trash can, feet up in the air scene from Mean Girls. Ha!

We played a little "I'm gonna get you game" with Dad..

And these clothes are officially soaking in some OxyClean. Yikes.

Put me in Coach! I got this.

Coach expressed how much he loves us being there at the field and he was so glad we came by. We are definitely going to make it there for more practices! With Finley loving the outdoors, us having some pretty days, and getting to see Daddy while he's still here before traveling.. it's a no brainer!

Defending the Title

Well they have done it again!
Team Elite has defended their title, winning the Met Ball Classic for the second straight year. The best 8 teams in the country were invited to play in this championship at Citi Field in New York. SO SO PROUD of the coaches and players!
How exciting!

Candid shot. Ha.

What an AWESOME way to start out the fall season boys!
Stay humble, continue to give 110%, and lets finish this 2014 year out strong!
So many of you players have a huge future ahead of you.

CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU!

Met Ball Classic

My traveling baseball husband is back in New York, WITHOUT ME AGAIN ggggggrrrrrr, for the Met Ball Classic. They are already off to a great start defending their title from last year. They won 6-5 over D-Bat today and they will continue play tomorrow in a double header at Citi Field.

They attended the Met Classic dinner last night just like last year...

... And he was sweet enough to send me a pic of the city lights he took during landing. I bet it's even more beautiful in person.

Right now I believe they are enjoying a fancy, schmancy dinner with a players parent who is actually from New York.
Anyyhoooo...

Good luck to Team Elite Baseball tomorrow!

Ft. Myers:: Evoshield Canes, Elite Squad Baseball, & Elite Training Baseball Chicago

WOW!
I still can't believe that it has been over a week that we have already been back from vacation.. time flies when you are having FUN!
Well, I wasn't having toooo much fun after I got fried on Sunday.. needless to say no sun was in the forecast for me the following day. I felt so bad I laid in the condo for awhile reading before heading over to the former Red Sox Training site for Team Elite's second game of the day. Once again they were on a lightening delay, so when they were supposed to be finished they were just getting started again. I found myself a tree providing some shade and kicked back with some of the parents.. they truly are awesome people and, again, it's always great talking with them.

Our boys ended up winning 4-1 taking us into the next round.
As Coach and I were leaving the field, I couldn't help but to notice a little extra pep in his step.. gotta love it.

Perfect Game World Series

Team Elite is back in Ft. Myers for the PG World Series... the top 20 teams from all over the country competing and let me tell you it has been intense. Looking at all the team's numbers last night, it's still anyone's game and Coach was anxious to get out there this morning and get started again.

I made it to the 5:30ish game yesterday, there are a ton of lightening/rain delays due to the crazy weather around here, to see them win 6-1 against NorCal Baseball. There were some great hits and great plays by TE which also means there were a few haters in the stands. I'm pretty sure it was a good thing I had to leave for a class because my blood pressure was making its way out of the roof. DO NOT like to hear people talking smack about my husband.
On top of that, they weren't keeping score on the score board, and Mr Perfect Game Scorekeeper was SUCH a people person with a wonderful personality, let me tell you. If you hate your job, you should probably find another one.

Their last game wasn't so pretty, getting beat 8-0 by Florida Burn. TE had three games to get in yesterday due to bad weather on Saturday. They lost 6-3 in their first game, taking them 4 hours to play because of lightening in the area. We have had some unexpected events take place.. In the first game, our lead off batter got hit in the head, on the first pitch giving him a concussion and yesterday another player got hit right between the eyes from a bad baseball hop off the ground. Good news they are both doing well!
I'm anxious for Coach and all the players today!
Good luck to all you boys and lets get another W on the board!

2014 WWBA National Championship

Early Sunday morning, me, Connie, and Ricky, made our way to Hillgrove High School for Day 3 of Team Elite's Prime appearance in the WWBA tourney.
In all of Shane's coaching years, Connie and Ricky have never been to one his tournaments... it was time for them to get out of the house and see his mad coaching skills for themselves.

We got to the field about 45 minutes early to see the players warm up and it even gave Connie and Ricky a chance to meet more of the parents. They had already met a few of them at the funeral home last week.. soooo awesome of them to come and also bring a group of players. Shane was so touched by their support. He has such an AWESOME group of kids and parents.

Sooo serious.. I wish I could whistle because I would totally shout out to my boo when he makes his way back to the dugout from 3rd. Just one time to see his reaction. I can't help but to chuckle right now at what he would do!

We got a W-I-N!!!
And guess what? The coach for the opposing team was a guy Shane played with when he played for the Portland Beavers in AAA ball... Jimmy Osteen. Coach said they were able to catch up a tad bit before the game but it was all business afterwards. This isn't the first time he has ran into someone from his playing days...

I wish I could hear what Coach says to his players after a game.. he sure is proud of them!

I was super blessed to be able to stay with my boo for the night.. we had lupper afterwards with his parents and then we headed back to the hotel for some AC. This Georgia heat/humidity is a killer.

Prime had another game Monday at 11:30am but we lost.. We were up and down in that game. I could not sit still and my nerves were shot! And I don't even have a child playing!!
I can't express enough how awesome this group of parents are.. I have always tried to be careful sitting in the stands in case someone doesn't agree with what my husband is doing on the field, but these parents just welcome me with open arms and are just THE sweetest!
Coach is putting together a team for the PG World Series and this chick gets to go! WHOOO HOOOO!!! I. Cannot. Wait. Can't wait to see the parents too. I am going to miss them when their kids move up!

Games continue Tuesday at 11:30!
I will be rooting y'all on Coach!!
