North Georgia's "Blizzard"

So last Wednesday, most of Mid to North Georgia was put under another Winter Advisory.. I think most everyone was expecting more snow than we got, ice when we woke up, and more power outages. I'm sure that was the case in the mountains but not in our area. The snow fell hard and thick for just a little while, stopped, started again for such a short time, stopped, then all this mess turned to rain! By the time I got up the next morning, it was all gone except for a patch here and there.

I left work early Wednesday, and when I got home, me and the Amigas went out for some fun! Judging from the pictures, I would say Sox and Mara were having a blast!

Coach had been spoiling us with some warm fires and when Kyli came I think she was expecting it! Ha!

These flakes were HUGE! 

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

Sunday Farm Day

Sunday, Coach and I started our day off going to church, we made our way back home instead of going out to eat, Coach pretty much vetoed that since I had just bought groceries the day before and I started working on the chalkboard for my first belly pic. 

Afterwards, it wasn't too cold so we decided to take a walk to the pond. As long as the wind wasn't blowing it was so nice with the sun beaming in your face! Ahhhh I cannot WAIT for at least mid-sixties spring weather. 

Before we left tho, Coach let the Amigas out and what do you know, Miss Priss decided to roll in a grease spot from the tractor. At least it wasn't a dead animal this time... she likes that perfume too.. nasty little heffa. I guess she agreed that she smelled pretty bad because she got in the tub all by herself! Those ears crack me up every time!

We made our way to the pond and I wished I would have had my Nikon. My camera phone didn't do it justice for how pretty it was. 

It has been almost a year since he had someone come in and clear out around the pond and considering the time that has gone by, not much has grown back up.

We walked all the way around the pond, and in the future, it will be cleared out more, pieces of the fence moved back to widen the walk way, and some kind of shavings/grass will be put down for it to be easier to walk on.

There were several signs of bass which Coach was fired up about.. He can't wait to get the dam fixed and for the water to fill back up where it needs to be.. he was so excited just talking about it!

We stopped and gave the horses some treats and loved on them a bit. I have to admit, I was a little bit nervous around them for some reason.

And they always love Shane.. they were nibbling at his pockets where he had their treats.

We let the chickens out for a little bit for some grass.. I was too worried about keeping them out because we have had a hawk hanging out WAY to close to the house!

And finally yesterday, it was dry enough for my Dad and Step-mom to get one of their guys to deliver some red dirt for Shane's project to fix the dam.

I'm pretty excited to see it all come together myself! Especially, when the dock gets built! Whoo hoo! I have a feeling the Amigas will love it too! I see lots of bath time for them in the future!

Sassafras Annual Christmas Bazaar

Last year, Sassafras Salon held its first Christmas Bazaar and we had our second one again Saturday.

Robbie had a vision of having more vendors and even outside for a more festival-like feel. When we had our monthly meeting, Santa, Frozen's Elsa and more came to mind... and well, we ALL think it went pretty good! 

We had a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, BBQ, apple cider, hot chocolate, tons of hand crafted items, Santa, Elsa, and a variety of vendors to buy from!

I didn't get as much pictures as I did last year because I was in charge of taking pics of Santa with the kids. 

We have such an awesome team at the Sassafras that helps pull this together!

Can't wait for next year!

Sunday Farm Day

Holy sleep in until 11AM .. Coach is rubbing off on me being home! That man loves to sleep.... I know my alarm went off and I must have hit it in my sleep. Before I went to bed it was on the night stand and when I finally came out of my comatose state, my phone was under my pillow. 

Yikes!

Talk about some awesome rest tho and snuggle time with my honey.

After all those good zzzz's I was ready to get going! I really wanted to ride up towards the mountains yesterday and see the beautiful trees changing with all their different colors but it didn't happen. So Mara and I decided to go on a walk to the pond. The pasture has gotten really tall and thank goodness we came back for a leash. We got to a certain point and I guess Mara's sixth sense kicked in.. the more I tried to keep going the more she would pin her ears back and walk back towards the house. It was so weird but I listened to her and I am SO GLAD I did!

While Coach and I were hanging out on the couch last night, we heard the LOUDEST pack of coyotes that sounded like they were right at our back door! It was so loud we heard them over the TV. Have you ever heard that awful screeching before?? It will make all the hair on the back of your neck stand up. No more playing outside for the puppies right now.

Hoooraaayyy for such a beautiful day and sunbathing!!

By the time Mara Lowrider and I got back to the house, Coach was outside ready for some yard work. While he cut a little grass, I finished a painting that I will be sharing with you guys this week called for a burn permit, and me and this sweet lil gal enjoyed some sunshine. It felt AMAZING! 

Sweet girl just sat beside me the whole time.

We decided to let the chickens out for a while. I love it how they just love to run up to you and Mara didn't once try to bother them. As Coach put it, "She doesn't have anything to say to them." HA! Guess she truly didn't.

The little heifers did try and stay on the front porch. Ain't nobody got time for a poopy porch! I had to keep sending them to the back yard.

Aaaannndd, somebody had a little trouble at first getting their burn pile going but once it did it was on full force!

Haha, looking at me with a troubled face wondering what in the world? 

I wish there could have been an arial view of everybody.. when it finally caught, the chickens scattered out from under the apple tree, the horses took off in the pasture, and I probably jumped at least ten feet in the air! 

We enjoyed our little fall bonfire, Connie and Tracie stopped by for a bit, and we chatted about how we needed some marshmallows to roast.. they can have those tho.. yuck.
