All this free time being snowed in has made me get busy in the kitchen. Which does seem crazy to me since lately I seem to be in there only when I have to be.
Back in the summer, I made homemade doggie treats and after a conversation Tracie and I had last weekend I decided to try to make treats for the horses. And where else do you start you search? On Pinterest of course.
Here is what I found.
1 1/2 cups unsweetened apple sauce
1 cup oat bran cereal or ground oatmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
Mix all these ingredients together.. |
Spread evenly into pan and bake 20-30 minutes at 350. |
I cut them into squares and refrigerated them until ready to serve. |
These smelled so good out of the oven I almost ate them myself!
One cup rolled oats
1/4 cup water
A pinch of honey
A pinch of smooth peanut butter
1/4 cup of your horse's favorite grain
1 small carrot
Mix the water with the oats. Add a pinch of honey and a pinch of the peanut butter. |
Add your horse's favorite grain and stir. If it doesn't stick enough add more of the honey. |
Cut up 1 small baby carrot (I chopped mine in a food processor) and roll into balls. Refrigerate to harden and then serve. |
